Mabel is a young girl who gets it in her head from an early age that she is too dark and that she should hide the imperfections of her skin. She relives various instances throughout her adolescence when she has felt insecure, instigated by her family and peers. Upon seeing her troubled youth, she decides to take action towards accepting her skin and bringing her past self out of a dark place.

Director’s Bio: Maya Puyat is an illustrator and animator based in the greater Philadelphia area. She believes art is play and likes to incorporate themes from childhood into her work. The subjects she draws from come from a place of nostalgia and are usually memories that have brought her comfort.
