About the filmmaker: John Hwang grew up in the Koreatowns of New Jersey and moved to New York City to attend film school at NYU Tisch. After graduating in 2019, he returned to New Jersey to freelance as an editor in NYC and complete his thesis short, “Today’s Special.” John hopes to share the unique history and identities of the Korean American communities around him across various mediums.
