On her 13th birthday, Georgia is stuck inside babysitting her little sister. Determined to make the most of her lukewarm day, she treks across the neighborhood to get herself a present. What begins as a simple, hopeful plan, however, soon spirals as her familial responsibilities collide with her desire for independence.

About the filmmaker: Denise Zhou is a writer, director, and editor based in Lenapehoking/New York City. She graduated from NYU Tisch in 2019 and has worked in development and post-production for both narrative and documentary films, including as an Assistant Editor on Lulu Wang’s The Farewell. Denise is passionate about cultivating community spaces and is particularly drawn to stories that explore how adolescence, grief, and experiences of change shape our relationships and desires.
