Punch-Drunk

Directed by Adel Tabrizi

NOMINEE – Best Narrative Feature

A nostalgic drama-meets-comedy sports action narrative set in Iran 30 years ago.

It’s 1996. Mahtab lives in Tehran along with her 10-year-old child, Erfan. Her husband Morteza is in jail, and she enrolls Erfan in a karate class so that he does not end up like his father. Erfan’s only interest is cinema, however, and he couldn’t care less about sports. Hassan Khoshnood is the tough and serious karate instructor whose dictator-type methods cause Erfan to run away from the karate academy.

This film will screen in person only.
